The feud between Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber started back in 2018, when Hailey married Gomez’s ex, Justin Bieber. Since then, tensions have occasionally surfaced through social media posts and interviews.

The latest flare-up came in October 2025 during a WSJ Magazine interview. Hailey discussed her brand, Rhode, launching in Sephora alongside Gomez’s Rare Beauty. When asked about competition, she said, “I think there is space for everybody. I don’t feel competitive with people that I’m not inspired by,” which many fans read as a subtle jab at Gomez.

Sources later clarified that her comment wasn’t aimed at Gomez and had been taken out of context. Gomez responded with a since-deleted post urging fans to back off, writing, “Just leave the girl alone. Be kind… There is room for everyone.”
