Life threatining Medical conditions
1# Tay-Sachs Disease
Tay-Sachs disease is a rare and devastating genetic disorder that begins in early infancy, usually between three and six months of age. A baby who initially appears healthy gradually loses developmental abilities such as crawling, sitting, and eventually moving altogether. As the disease progresses, severe symptoms emerge, including frequent seizures, loss of hearing and vision, difficulty swallowing, and the complete inability to communicate or control movement. There is no cure and, tragically, no effective treatment to slow its progression. Most children with Tay-Sachs do not live beyond four or five years. Those short years are marked by intense suffering for the child and unimaginable emotional pain for their families. In extremely rare cases, a child may survive longer, with the longest recorded lifespan reaching around nine years, but the outcome is always the same—an irreversible and heartbreaking decline.
